He played in 11 games, which was one over the NCAA's limit of 30 percent which would trigger a medical redshirt.

The victor of the Athens regional will advance to a super regional, with the victor of that advancing to the College World Series in Omaha, Neb.

FSU (43-17), which won the ACC Tournament on Sunday, will host a regional for the 35th time in program history.

During the NCAA's selection show on Monday, it was also revealed that Texas is the 13th overall seed. Schwarz, who suffered a right hand injury in the Mississippi State series, is day-to-day and his status for the regional is uncertain.

"Familiar territory, you've got your fan base and everything that goes along with home field advantage", coach Pat Casey said of the benefits of hosting a regional. "We eventually got it".

During the 2017-18 campaign, 15 schools sent a men's team to a bowl game in football, the NCAA Basketball Tournament and the NCAA Baseball Tournament.

The four-team Regionals are double-elimination and scheduled from June 1-4. Arizona (34-22) is firmly on the bubble while California (32-22) will likely be left out. The Bulldogs are the No. 8 national seed. The Seminoles now have a very solid shot at earning a Top Eight national seed for the tournament.

Casey believes the Beavers, who are seventh in the RPI, deserve a high national seed.

"We're trying to repeat what we did previous year", Cofer said on Friday. "The kids have played well from start to finish". "I'm excited. Not only are we getting back a great player but his leadership qualities will be what we need for this team and where we are now".

The Beavers are looking to finish the job this time around.

Fellow senior Carley Hoover entered the game for the final out of the game following Florida State's late inning comeback attempt.

The inning started with a Michaela Schlattman solo blast, her eighth of the year and third in the postseason.
