"As far as I know, the president of the United States said the U.S.is considering the possibility of regulating the additional supply of automotive equipment in the US market", he said.

Though not officially on the agenda, analysts say that one key topic of discussion this year may focus on whether Iran will be allowed to ascend from its position as an SCO observer to become a full member state - a development it has sought since 2008 but has been unable to achieve while subject to United Nations sanctions.

Trump's call also comes amid the continuing criminal and congressional investigations into what the USA intelligence community concluded was a campaign by Moscow to use propaganda and hacking to influence the 2016 US presidential election.

The statement made no mention of Russian Federation being invited back into the group from which it was kicked out in response to its 2014 annexation of Crimea, despite US President Donald Trump's insistence that the club would be better off if it brought Russian Federation back into the fold.

President Putin said Russia-China trade turnover could hit $100 billion by the end of this year.

Putin is in China for a weekend summit of the Chinese and Russian-led security bloc the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) in the port city of Qingdao, but dropped by Beijing first for talks with Xi.

Chinese President Xi Jinping (習近平) late yesterday opened a two-day regional security summit attended by Russia, Iran and other allies confronting rising tensions with the U.S. over trade and Washington's withdrawal from the Iranian nuclear deal.

Lavrov said Russian Federation is "working fine in other formats" such as the Group of 20, TASS state news agency reported.

"As soon as the American side is ready, this meeting will be held immediately, depending on my work schedule", Putin said. Russian Federation was removed from the summit in 2014 when after it invaded Crimea over its support for pro-Russia separatists in Ukraine.

"As for the United States' illegal walkout from these agreements, a far more serious and important dialogue between our countries is required", TASS quoted Rouhani as saying.

Russia's President Vladimir Putin and Iranian President Hassan Rouhani met Saturday to discuss regional issues including both countries' involvement in the Syrian civil war and the USA withdrawal from a landmark nuclear deal with Iran.

Xi emphasized that the U.S. seeks to change the global order through unilateral approaches and violation of regulations.

"But I think this is a technicality", he said.

That's "not something we are even remotely interested in looking at", Trudeau said on Saturday.

"It's true", Putin said.

"We have been a faithful player to this commitment, we've done our best, we've shown our good intentions".

China and Russian Federation pledged to support each other on key global issues during a summit in Beijing on Friday, as the two sides hailed an "all-time high" in bilateral ties amid strained relations with the US.

European Union President Donald Tusk, who was also attending summit, also rejected Trump's suggestion.
