Fortnite on Switch won't work with Epic accounts used on PS4

The game is available to play on Windows, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and iOS. You can just plug your headphones into the jack like God intended, according to developers from Epic Games on today's Nintendo Treehouse Live stream from the E3 show floor.

Fortnite's move to Switch will be the game's second jump to a new platform this year. An Epic games representative told GameSpot, "We have no plans for Save the World on Switch". We'll keep you posted as the story develops. "I was a tester on PC who's finished every season and spent hundreds of dollars on the game but nope no Switch play for me since I played once on a PS4", writes user kagatoASUKA.

"This Fortnite account is associated with a platform which does not allow it to operate on Switch", the screen reads. No account previously linked to a PSN account can log in on a Switch console. While the contestants probably won't be playing on Switch, the announcement of a new version is a nice way to lead into the main event.

You need only look at Reddit and the Resetera forums to see the immediate backlash that has occurred, as excitement for Nintendo fun turned quickly to anger directed at Sony. The game hit mobile platforms some time ago, and since the Switch is built using a number of mobile-oriented components, porting Fortnite to the Switch seemed like an obvious win. You can also purchase a Battle Pass season subscription at a cost of about $10. Then, sign into your PS4 Epic Games account on the official site, head into the account section, and change your username to anything. Ask away in the comments section below.
