LeBron James to join Los Angeles Lakers in $154m deal

The Los Angeles Lakers made one of the biggest moves in National Basketball Association history on Sunday by landing LeBron James in free agency.

Cleveland was unceremoniously swept by the Golden State Warriors in the 2018 NBA Finals.

Ticket seller StubHub on Tuesday said visits to the Lakers ticket page were up 7,398 percent over the same date previous year even though next season's schedule has yet to be announced. When Johnson and James met, they reportedly discussed how to build the Lakers into a contender, with James understanding that at the moment, they are not close.

The Lakers jerseys will ship seven to 10 days after James officially signs his contract.

James' departure didn't cause the big uproar in Cleveland it once did - maybe his fulfilled promise of bringing the a championship title back to the city had something to do with that.

That's according to Mark Heisler of the Los Angeles Daily News, who claims the Lakers will NOT complete a deal for another superstar to join LeBron James this summer.

While Leonard's desire to leave Texas does not come as a surprise, it asks hard questions of both franchises.

The 2,600-pound banner posted on the Sherwin-Williams Global Headquarters Wall was originally installed in 2014 when James returned to Cleveland from the Miami Heat.

As far as the answer to the latter question goes, the situation is slightly more complicated.

What could make L.A.'s offseason even crazier?

That would be a hefty price to pay, particularly as the Lakers would have to try and fill out their rosters around LeBron and Leonard.

A repeat of Paul George's scenario? The team has limited cap space, and the number of impactful free agents on the market has quickly dwindled.

UPDATE (5:25 p.m. EST): Dwight Howard has agreed to a one-year deal with the Washington Wizards for the $5.3 million mid-level exception, reports The Athletic's Jared Weiss.

James led the Cavaliers to a NBA Championship in 2016, when they upset the Warriors and shocked the world after being down 3-1 in the best of seven series.
