By Tuesday afternoon, the "Impeach 45" products had been taken off of Walmart's website.

Wal-Mart is under fire after its website offered T-shirts from third-party sellers with "IMPEACH 45" emblazoned across the front in big capital letters - a call to bring down the 45th US president, Donald Trump. Such sellers can sign up to advertise products on Walmart's website, and the retail giant gets a commission on each sale.

The outcry sparked a #BoycottWalmart trend on Twitter as users expressed their distaste for the chain promoting the impeachment of President Trump, echoing some Congressional Democrats.

The t-shirts aren't being sold by Walmart itself, but by third-party sellers including Old Glory and Teespring Inc. Walmart didn't immediately respond to CNBC's request for comment.

Old Glory is the company that sells the "Impeach 45" apparel and it's not the only one. The company also sells a wide range of pro-Trump merchandise, including a substantial number of "Make America Great Again" hats.

"We're removing these types of items pending review of our marketplace policies", a representative for Walmart said via email.

This is not the first time Walmart has gotten into some hot water for a t-shirt offered for sale.

The company issued a similar statement when it came under fire a year ago for selling a shirt with the words "Rope".

To be fair, however, Yahoo Lifestyle points out that Walmart has pulled other merchandise on similar grounds.
