Former Juventus player Alessandro Del Piero has hailed the £100million arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid.

Ronaldo has agreed a four-year contract with the Serie A champions in a deal worth €112million. "I'm leaving but this shirt, this crest and the Santiago Bernabeu will continue to always feel as my own wherever I am".

When Ronaldo returned to Old Trafford in 2013 for the first (and so far only) time to face Manchester United with Real Madrid in the Champions League, Sir Alex Ferguson instructed the club's PA announcer to break with tradition and read out the Real team second, with Ronaldo left as the last player to have his name read out.

During his tenure at the Bernebeau, the five-time Balon d'Or victor was nigh on unstoppable, scoring a staggering 451 goals in 438 appearances for the club. "Apart from the titles he has lifted, the honours secured and the on-field achievements during these nine years, Cristiano Ronaldo has been a role model in terms of commitment, hard work, responsibility, talent and self-improvement". After the deal, Cristiano Ronaldo wrote an official letter to Real Madrid fans saying he only has feelings of enormous gratitude for Real Madrid club and the city.

And Pele, who spent 18 years at Santos before ending his career with New York Cosmos, understands Ronaldo's decision.

However, the suspense officially came to an end on Tuesday, with the Los Blancos confirming that the Portuguese superstar will be joining the Serie A champions for a reported fee of about 105 million euros ($123.24 million).

After the exit of Portugal at the 2018 FIFA World Cup where they were sent out in the round of 16 stages, Ronaldo took his family to Greece for holiday to relax before the new season kicks off.

"Juventus want to win the Champions League, but not only that, to be recognised on the same level as the greatest clubs in the world", he told Sky Sport Italia.

How do you think Real will replace Ronaldo?

At the last count, most fans were eagerly checking their twitter feeds for updates on Ronaldo's intending move.

"They look like they are looking at other positions".

The Portuguese laughed off Milan's attempts to lure him to Italy a few years ago, but now he has chose to chance his arm in Serie A.
