The New York Giants lavished Odell Beckham Jr. with the largest contract for a wide receiver in league history.

The signing comes less than two weeks before the season opener against Jacksonville on September 9 at MetLife Stadium. It also includes $65 million guaranteed, which is the most guaranteed money a wide receiver has ever gotten.

Beckham, who missed most of last season with a broken left ankle, was scheduled to make $8.4m (£6.5m) in the final year of his rookie contract.

Over his four-year career, Beckham has totaled 4,424 receiving yards and 38 touchdowns on 313 receptions.

The three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver will earn a guaranteed $65m over the course of the deal and could receive up to $95m depending on production, making him the highest-paid player at his position, the network reported.

In April, new NY head coach Pat Shurmur said he had been in frequent contact with Beckham, both via phone conversations and text messages, and that they were engaged in open and honest conversations. 'I don't know if it's a relief, I don't know - it's a combination of everything.

It's a fun time to be Odell Beckham Jr., but Ramsey is keen on spoiling Beckham and the Giants' season debut when the Jaguars pay East Rutherford a visit. "You've worked all your life to get to this point and it's finally here". Ginobili was the final holdover from the Spurs' almost twenty year run of success.

"I knew that it would get done; it just was a matter of when".

Beckham, 25, has been seeking a big money extension over the past few seasons and it wasn't always a certainty that he was going to get one in NY.
