"The last time I spoke with him he told me that he wants to play for another season", said head coach Sarri, speaking ahead of Saturday's clash with Cardiff, when Chelsea will be targeting a fifth win from five Premier League games.

Chelsea are forever involved in some soap opera or another while continuity seems to be a dirty word at Stamford Bridge. I want to speak to him.

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has revealed that Tammy Abraham's decision to seek a loan exit from the club came extremely late in the transfer window.

Derby County and Spartak Moscow have both reportedly dropped out of the race for Aston Villa target John Terry.

Maurizio Sarri is open to the prospect of John Terry joining his coaching staff at Chelsea but fears the club's former captain is intent upon playing for another season before he turns his attention to life in the dug-out.

Chelsea sits at the top of the table along with Liverpool and Watford after winning four out of four opening Premier League matches so far. So I know that the matches after the break are very, very hard. Cesc Fabregas is returning to full fitness but won't be ready to play this weekend.

Maybe the club's best business though the summer was to keep hold of Belgian superstar Hazard.

Asked whether his side can challenge for the title, Sarri said champions Manchester City and Liverpool were favourites and that Chelsea needed to improve defensively.

'Fortunately, we have very strong young players; (Ruben) Loftus-Cheek, (Callum) Hudson-Odoi, Ampadu, and I'd like to give them the right space.

Chelsea FC are aiming to at the very least break back into the top four this season after the Blues ended up in fifth place last term under Antonio Conte.

"Manchester City and Liverpool are another step up to us but I think we can improve".

"Cardiff, in contrast, have not won yet but I don't think their manager Neil Warnock will be too concerned, even if they lose again on Saturday".

"My feeling is that now we are not a very solid team in the defensive phase".
