Five people, including three infants, were stabbed overnight Thursday at an in-home day care center in NY by an employee who then tried to kill herself, police said.
Authorities were called at about 3:40 a.m.to a residence serving as a day care on 161st Street between 45th and 43rd Avenues in Flushing, Queens.
Police say they found a 52-year-old woman in the basement of the daycare with what they say was a self-inflicted slashed wrist. The injuries were not considered to be life threatening, police said.
Her identity has not been released.
A female coworker and the father of one of the injured children were the two adults also attacked.
It was not immediately clear how many other children were at the centre at the time of the assault.
Investigators said they believed the home served as an informal neighborhood daycare center.
The injured infants included two boys and a girl, police said.
Investigators have not determined a motive for the attack.
