The video, set to "Laughing" by the Canadian band The Guess Who, ends when his expression suddenly falls. We got a look at the actor in character as pre-Joker "Arthur" earlier in the week.

Following a video and on-set pictures, filmmaker Todd Phillips recently revealed Joaquin Phoenix's look as the Joker, this time in complete make-up.

What do you think about Joaquin Phoenix's latest Joker reveal? It also passes on the facial tattoos worn by recent Suicide Squad Joker Jared Leto.

When Joaquin Phoenix was announced as the star of "Joker", a forthcoming stand-alone origin story of the DC Comics villain, he seemed like a great choice. As the clapperboard goes down, we see Phoenix stood still as the boring, cardigan-clad "Arthur" with his hands in his pockets. One of the things that was noted about Gacy's clown makeup, after his crimes were uncovered, was how his eye and mouth lines were drawn into sharp points around, instead of round like most other clowns. The teaser appears to be just a hint at The Joker's look though, and I doubt his final face paint will appear as it does in this teaser. Marc Maron (GLOW), Shea Whigham (Kong: Skull Island), and Robert De Niro (The Godfather Part II) co-star in unknown roles. Warner Bros. describes it as a gritty character study and a broader cautionary tale.

A few seconds pass before clips of Phoenix dressed up as the Joker flicker into frame, cutting between the footage of him as the average-looking Arthur.

If this first look was enough to get you on board, then you can look forward to the Joker origin film's release on October 4, 2019.
