Arsenal's ‘great’ Europa League start excites Alex Iwobi

The Gunners were grateful to Petr Cech for keeping the scores level at the break, the veteran goalkeeper saving twice from Richarlison and keeping out Lucas Digne's free-kick.

"The coach always makes the starting XI because of the performance".

Both Lacazette and Aubameyang found the net as Arsenal cruised to a 2-0 win over Everton as they moved up to sixth in the league.

"It's clear where Kenny is in that moment and it's clear on the second touch [by Ramsey] where the player who finishes is as well". Petr has big experience and big quality. "We push each other and I think the competition with us is very good. Today he shows us he is doing very well and continuing with this work and spirit every day".

Heading into this game, many Arsenal fans were feeling confident. Before that, it was his shot-stopping that really saved Arsenal.

Brazil forward Richarlison got an opportunity to draw the first blood but his effort went off target just a minute before the half hour.

Former Arsenal man Theo Walcott was also guilty of squandering a good chance for the visitors, failing to get enough on his attempted chip over Cech when racing in behind, and Everton were so almost punished in the closing stages of the first half.

Aaron Ramsey and Mesut Ozil will look to support Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubamayeng.

Cazorla rejected the notion that Arsenal were in "a comfort zone" under former manager Wenger - who was replaced after 23 years in charge by Emery in May - but feels that they could have come closer to success in the Premier League.

If that was tough on Everton, there was worse to come for Marco Silva's side three minutes later as Arsenal scored a dubious second to seal the points.

With Arsenal enjoying more of the ball after the interval they were denied a penalty by referee Jon Moss, who was unmoved by claims of handball against Jonjoe Kenny. "Clearly, we didn't deserve this result", Silva said.

Aubameyang is having to play on the left wing to accommodate Lacazette as the team's central striker, but it is not stopping the Gabon striker from scoring. For me, the Europa League is very important.

He has kept summer signing Bernd Leno on the bench - except for Thursday's Europa League win over Vorskla Poltava - and Emery is pleased with his goalkeeping options.

Everton were the more threatening side during the first half at Emirates Stadium, but a quickfire double from Arsenal's attackers secured a fourth straight Premier League win.
