Will Paul Pogba leave United first - or will it be Jose Mourinho?

"The only truth is I made the decision of Paul not to be the second captain anymore".

Berbatov added: "As someone who wants Manchester United to do well, I'm fed up of waking up and seeing these headlines".

He set up United's goal against Wolves but was at fault for the equalizer.

"When we are at home, we should attack, attack, attack. We are here to attack", he said. "That was our mistake".

While Mino Raiola may have agreed Pogba's personal terms with Barcelona, it would take a staggering bid to convince Ed Woodward to sell.

"Maybe the attitude should be better and we should play better because, again, we are at Old Trafford and we should just attack and press like we did against Tottenham, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal last season".

City was Lampard's last English team after spending most of his career at Chelsea, where Mourinho had two spells as manager.

Derby scored their goals through a belting free-kick from Harry Wilson and a close-range header from Jack Marriott, before going on to win the tie on penalties.

United were disappointing once again as they scraped a 2-2 draw in 90 minutes, as Marouane Fellaini rescued the 10-man hosts - who had Sergio Romero sent off - deep into second-half stoppage time.

Penalties were the least Derby deserved and the first 15 spot-kicks were accurate, before Jones stepped up and saw his feeble effort easily saved by Scott Carson.

Is this the post that led to the exchange between Pogba and Mourinho?

"Derby County at least deserved a draw at full-time and it was the same on Saturday against Wolves".

Pogba is believed to have been informed in front of team-mates that he does not embody what the club is about, so will no longer act as captain when regular skipper Antonio Valencia is absent.

"He said what a great performance it was from the team", the Derby boss said of Mourinho.

As for United, the malaise at Old Trafford shows no sign of abating.

Despite his reluctance to speak out about Pogba, Lampard did take time out to defend Mourinho's tactics.

United started the game in ideal fashion with Juan Mata opening the scoring inside three minutes.
