Dark Phoenix trailer gives fans first glimpse of new X-Men movie

More importantly, it looks like Dark Phoenix might just avoid the errors of The Last Stand by actually focusing on the woman it's about: there's plenty of Jean Grey in this trailer, and Sophie Turner delivers. She later became the Black Queen of the Hellfire Club's New York City chapter, bringing her into conflict with the X-Men and the young students of Charles Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, the New Mutants. The highly anticipated film is an adaption of the storyline from the comics of the Dark Phoenix force that tries to take over Jean's mind, and we see the stakes at play here in the trailer.

Moving forward, X-Men will now be integrated into Disney's Marvel Cinematic Universe and will fall under the supervision of Kevin Feige. Once she returns home, this force not only makes her infinitely more powerful, but far more unstable. The Fox made X-Men movies have been up and down for me, with more down than up. The screenwriter of that film, longtime X-Men film producer Simon Kinberg, is trying that story again in his directorial debut, the Apocalypse follow-up simply titled Dark Phoenix.

Please let them get it right this time.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix also stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Evan Peters, and Jessica Chastain. As it is, we're only now getting the first trailer for the movie, the release date of which was pushed back to February 14 next year in order to accommodate reshoots, after some negative feedback from test screenings. "It's something I think audiences have nearly grown accustomed to now given that the Marvel [MCU] movies are so often now intergalactic".
