Jurgen Klopp will hope to have the attacker available after a costly worldwide break that also saw Mohamed Salah and Naby Keita pick up suspected thigh problems.

Former Irish defender Lawrenson is confident Liverpool FC will ease to a 2-0 win against Huddersfield in Saturday's late kick-off.

The players are; Sadio Mane, Mo Salah, Naby Keita, James Milner, and Virgil van Dijk, who are yet to be 100 per cent fit following one injury or the other.

Keita, meanwhile, is expected to be sidelined for around two weeks with the hamstring issue he picked up when playing for Guinea.

Asked if he had a fitness update, Klopp told his pre-match press conference: "Not really".

"We had yesterday's session and a few of the boys trained, we'll have to see how they react", said Klopp.

It has been reported that Mane suffered a broken left thumb while on worldwide duty with Senegal, with the forward injuring his hand in their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sudan. That's it, pretty much'.

Van Dijk played the entirety of the Netherlands' win over Germany on Saturday and then returned to Liverpool - missing Tuesday's friendly with Belgium.

Salah and Van Dijk withdrew from their national teams over the worldwide break amid fitness concerns, but trained at Melwood on Thursday afternoon.

"You saw when he went off - everybody saw when he went off - in the home game against Southampton, Virg would not leave the pitch without any major problems". But it's healed pretty quick, that's how it is.

"He will play first-team football for Liverpool again and that is the best news".

"It's all good, he has no problems with that any more".

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has compared the Nations League to world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua having to box "every second night".
