'Game of Thrones' Season 8: HBO Drops First Official Teaser

So far, we've only seen a scant two seconds of Game of Thrones's final season: a hug between Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner).

The teaser dropped after the Comic Con experience in Brazil, where creators David Benioff and Dan Weiss were on hand to greet fans.

The fire and ice of the trailer are a nod to the George RR Martin book series the show is based on, A Song Of Fire And Ice.

Although the flagship series is ending, HBO has multiple projects set in the Game of Thrones universe now in development.

It's set to be epic, according to Vladimir Furdik, who plays the Night King.

It shows a dragon and direwolf become overtaken by ice while a lion gets consumed by fire. Disappointingly, the video doesn't actually contain any new footage.

The eighth season will air on M-Net (DStv 101) in April 2019.

It's all a big tease of a brewing battle between Daenerys, the North, and the Lannisters as they fight each other and the looming threat of the White Walkers during season eight of the HBO series.

Towards the end of the teaser, a wall of dragon glass is formed when the waves of fire and ice finally meet.

Another fun factoid: The scripts also reveal at one point there was a plan for the White Walkers to communicate in a special language.

"It was the first time that I was able to actually direct the premiere episode of the season, so I'm just nervous".

Get your scheming shoes on, Game of Thrones fans.
