IPhone XI first pictures: are Apple designers on the wrong track?

They're still nine months away and a lot can change in that time, but with Apple looking for a way to boost waning interest in its handsets, a drastic redesign could be on the cards. However, the triple camera setup on the back has attracted the most attention with its unconventional and un-Apple like asymmetrical layout. Suffice it to say, if you thought the camera bump on existing iPhones was noticeable, well, you may be in for quite a surprise when Apple officially reveals its 2019 iPhone lineup later this year.

January 07, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) - mophie, a ZAGG Inc (NASDAQ:ZAGG) company and the No. 1 mobile battery case brand in the USA, today unveiled the juice pack® access battery case made to protect and wirelessly charge Apple's latest smartphones. There are two cameras aligned vertically, similar to the iPhone XS. We still prefer the way cameras and LED stacked in a 2x2 arrangement inside the square window of Huawei Mate 20 Pro.

Apple's 2019 iPhone models are said to still be in the Engineering Validation Test (EVT) stage which is a step below the Design Validation Test (DVT) phase.

No other information was provided about the upcoming Apple product.

We heard first of a TOF lens in Oppo R17 Pro previous year, but the technology seemed ahead of its time.

It also remains to be seen if a third camera will be Apple's ticket to bounce back from a low 2018.

The third camera is reportedly a Time of Flight sensor (ToF) that creates a 3D spatial map by calculating how long it takes light to bounce off a surface. One cool feature about this battery case is that it doesn't plug into the iPhone's Lightning port, so you can freely use it for your wired headphones or data transfer. There's no doubt the iPhone XI will support wireless charging and have aluminium core - even if it is for the premium models.
