The film will include lyrics to avoid any embarrassing "devil for a sideboard" moments as the audience sings along with star Rami Malek. The best part? No one can get kicked out for channelling their inner Freddie Mercury.

It won the award for best motion picture, drama, and Malek also took home best actor in a drama. The tracks include Queen's "We Will Rock You", "We Are the Champions", "Crazy Little Thing Called Love", "Another One Bites the Dust", and the title song. It's brought in £582 million globally at the box office since hitting the silver screen.

Malek appeared on the late-night program to discuss his big wins of the night.

However, it's not just because the film was the least critically-acclaimed in the category that people had issues with it winning. But director Bryan Singer's sudden exit from the film and the controversial allegations that have followed him for years were at the top of the agenda in the press room backstage.

Singer has the directing credit for the film, despite being sacked by Fox during production for alleged absences on set, but he's always been the subject of multiple sexual assault allegations.

This is the first time Malek has won a Golden Globe, having been nominated two other times in previous year.

In stark contrast, the star of Bohemian Rhapsody, Rami Malek - who also won Best Actor - was deafeningly silent about Singer when taking the stage throughout the evening. "She is so down to Earth and so cool", the Golden Globe victor said.

Rami Malek and Nicole Kidman were on the stage while Bohemian Rhapsody director was giving his victor speech. "Thank you to Freddie Mercury for giving me the joy of a lifetime", he said, adding in a seemingly ad-libbed moment: "I love you, you handsome man".
