The Gunners signed Bernd Leno, Stephan Lichtsteiner, Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi in the summer at a cost of over £70million - but Emery conceded the winter window will be much more frugal from Arsenal.

Emery is also expected to be quizzed on Arsenal's pursuit of Barcelona midfielder Denis Suarez as he bids to bolster his squad in January. I know these players and they are very good players.

Koscielny will be eased back gently, though, with Emery explaining: 'It's not easy for him to play three matches in one week, and we pushed him and he was playing three matches during the week, but not ninety minutes each match'.

"I asked in the last match at Blackpool if he is okay to help us play and he said, 'Yeah, coach, I want to play" and he played with a very big behaviour and commitment to us.

December saw Arsenal's campaign being severely disrupted by injuries to key defensive personnel, But, Unai Emery can heave a sigh of relief after six first-team players returned to full training this week.

Still, the deal does not remain straightforward for the Gunners, given they are unlikely to be able to discuss a permanent move for the attacker in the current transfer window.

Emery also offered an update on Aaron Ramsey following suggestions the midfielder is set to join Juventus in the summer after reportedly singing a £140,000 a week, five-year contract with the Italian champions.

Arsenal travel to West Ham on Saturday before hosting Chelsea, the Blues occupying fourth place in the table, in a Premier League London derby next weekend. Every day he's here with us, he's working very well.

"If we can find one player who can help us like we need, with the quality and a different player for getting in our squad, we are going to do it".

"I want his behaviour and his focus to be on West Ham on Saturday".
