If the White Sox are able to sign Machado, it will be interesting to see how they fare in 2019. The team has made a formal offer to Machado, but whether a contract has been offered to Harper is unknown. The deal is expected to be "in the $24 million range", per The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal.

In Manny Machado market, #Yankees have trailed #Phillies and #WhiteSox in seriousness of interest.

After a face-to-face meeting in Las Vegas with Bryce Harper, his agent Scott Boras and his wife Kayla on Saturday, the Philadelphia Phillies have emerged as "the clear-cut favorite" to sign Harper, according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today. The Philly Inquirer has reported that the Phillies prefer the infielder to the outfielder, and by closing in on Harper, Philadelphia is putting pressure on Machado to make his decision soon. The Yankees have always been among the most likely destinations for Machado.

LeMahieu, 30, has spent eight years in the majors, the last seven with the Colorado Rockies, where he was a two-time All-Star and National League batting champion in 2016.

The Yankees have been considered the Phillies' biggest obstacle to landing Machado because of the idea that he's wanted for years to play in the Bronx. He'll join old friend Troy Tulowitzki in a reshaped Yankees infield that should have no shortage of power, defensive acumen, or top-level professionalism.

Baltimore Orioles' Manny Machado laughs in the dugout during the seventh inning of a game against the White Sox Tuesday, May 22, 2018, in Chicago.

It would be quite a shock, from a fit perspective, to see the Yankees out on Machado, who makes so freaking much sense for them and who reportedly really wants to be a Yankee. That no longer appears to be a realistic option. The Phillies might be willing to overspend on one, but not both.
