Instead of Respawn's hulking mechs, however, you get to play with hero-like "Legends", each with their own unique abilities and stories. Just three days later, the shooter has ten times that amount, climbing to a staggering 10 million players overall. Secondly, however popular the recent battle royale hits like Fortnite and PUBG would have been, players do look towards trying their hands at a new battle royale game, considering the rage this genre has become among players worldwide.

Part of the game's success can be attributed to influencers, as Apex Legends continues to top the charts on Twitch and hit the top five in Mixer. The battle royale game will undoubtedly have a positive effect on EA's fourth quarter earnings.

"We tested and tweaked". Showing Respawn's pedigree as a team of creatives who clearly game regularly themselves, we've got shakeups to the battle royale formula like respawns and finishers, right next to Titanfall-aping gunplay and knee slides keeping locomotion fresh.

Just a couple of days after it went live, "Apex Legends" has already raked in millions of players. We knew it would be risky to take the franchise in this direction, to go free to play, and do a surprise launch. Respawn's Vince Zampella wrote a brief note to players on the game's site that announced the big numbers and thanked the community for its support.

Respawn, the developers of the Titanfall series, dropped Apex Legends earlier this week with no marketing and no mention, but that hasn't stopped the game from gaining popularity.

This is just the beginning! Thank you for joining us on this journey.

We really doubt a single player mode will be added on as the studio is apparently working on a new Titanfall title for later this year.
