Cardi B makes history with best rap album Grammy

While not everyone was impressed with her win, the I Like It rapper made history at the Grammys, being the first solo female artist to take home the rap album trophy.

While accepting the award, she appreciated her estranged husband, Offset and his Migos group; and all the artists featured on the album for their support.

She said: "He was like 'You gonna have this baby and you gonna make this album'".

But, the debate continues with no signs of ending. "Maybe I need to start smoking weed".

In a recent post, she said: "To all the parents, students, administrators, community members & local government officials, DEMAND MUSIC EDUCATION in your schools as part of the core curriculum".

Grande's late ex-boyfriend, Mac Miller, was posthumously nominated in the same category for his final album "Swimming."

Cardi B and Offset's daughter Kulture Kiari was born in July past year.

And thus the New Yorker began clocking her rapid ascent to stardom: as her profile grew, Cardi in 2015 gave up stripping to give rap a go.

"Oh my goodness", she said, struggling to gather herself. Every chart that there was, my album was top 10. "I was like, I just got to work harder to get one".

But she wastes little time on the tribulations of love: the superstar favors the themes of proud women - and money.

Despite the lack of big names in hip-hop performing at the 61st annual Grammy Awards, it didn't stop Cardi B from channeling her own high school performing days on stage for her own show-stopping performance.

Her risque video for the track wowed the internet for scenes that show Cardi breast-feeding, pole-dancing and playing the piano naked, as women shower other women in cash.
