Freeman was featured on "Team Miley" during season 13 of "The Voice". Janice you're my star!

The singer's family told TMZ that Freeman had been in her West Covina, California, home with her husband on Saturday when she "started complaining she couldn't breathe". 'You are a fighter, you are a warrior, you are a role model and, more than any of that, you are The Voice, I am in complete shock, I love you so much'.

She quickly became one of Cyrus' favorites on the show thanks to her impressive vocal talents and ability to execute wonderful performances week after week on stage (as you can see in a video of one of Freeman's performances, above!).

That night, a stunned Cyrus told her through tears, "I truly believe that if anybody deserves to stick around in this competition, it is you".

Cyrus, who selected Freeman for Team Miley during Season 13 of the NBC show in 2017, opened up about her bond with the singer, who she regarded as a "legend".

Cyrus said Freeman was "not only the best singer" the NBC show has brought on, but also "the best f--ing singer in the world". She had been having a series of very serious medical issues recently, including fighting through lupus, cervical cancer, and meningitis. You were the only artist EVER, that I tried so hard to "sign", was going to create a label just so YOU could be on it'.

The 26-year-old singer followed up the post with a clip of Freeman on the show, in which she tearfully declared that Cyrus was "the best thing that has ever happened to me, in my entire life".

"Her friends and family greatly appreciate your prayers, calls and texts during this time and ask that they be given space to remember everything that Janice was used to them as they process and mourn her loss". She reportedly recently beat the cancer. They rushed her to the hospital, but she passed away - and was officially pronounced dead at about 5:30 pm last night. "How you were so selfless I'll never understand".

Cyrus posted a tribute on Instagram to Freeman.

Freeman revealed that her family had been struggling with looking for a place to live when Cyrus helped her out financially, paying her rent for six months. "This represents you perfectly".
