So surely Anthem is just doomed. In a thread on the Anthem subreddit, a user explains that when the game crashes, they are not only booted to the main menu, but on more than one occasion, the PS4 has shut down entirely.
It appears that PlayStation 4 players are experiencing a number of technical issues with Anthem with players flocking to the Anthem Reddit to voice their concerns.
Understandably, the players encountering these issues aren't keen on risking the health of a gaming console worth several hundred dollars. "Took me five minutes".
There's now a topic on EA's official forum asking PS4 players that have experienced a hard crash to share information on their console and play session just before the crash occurred.
Have you reported your crash data when prompted?
Successful Anthem refunds have also been reported via Sony's support phone line: 1-800-345-SONY (7669). Upon restarting their consoles, players are reportedly met with error code CE-36329-3, which PlayStation describes as a "system software" error.
Here's another report from an Anthem owner affected by tonight's problems: "The console powers down and will not power on using the normal method of pressing the PS4 button on the controller". It's the lowest-rated BioWare game ever released; its first-week physical sales were a quarter of what its most obvious genre rival Destiny 2 achieved, and half of Mass Effect: Andromeda's; and now it's been crashing PlayStation 4 consoles, leading to Sony offering full refunds to frustrated players. In a follow-up email to Kotaku, the person said they were playing on the Call of Duty: WWII limited edition PS4, which came out only a year and a half ago. Refunds have since been verified by other players and publications.
