Users across the globe reported trouble accessing Facebook, Instagram, and Facebook's Messenger app Wednesday.

People have taken to Twitter to share their frustration of not being able to access the websites and apps. A recent post from the official Facebook Twitter account assures users that the team is working on resolving the various errors plaguing Facebook as well as its related services and platforms. "We're working on getting this fixed as soon as we can do".

While desktop versions aren't even loading for many users, apps do load the content, but you can't post new status updates or send / receive messages.

It has been nearly 6 hours since Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp went down for almost everyone around the world.

The outages appeared to be concentrated in the Americas and Europe.

On Twitter, most users complained about the consumer sides of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp being down. Tens of thousands of people have reported connectivity problems to the site. Users have written in from Canada, Las Vegas, and Turkey to note outages there as well. Some users were seeing the same message on Facebook around the same time when they tried to post or log in on Wednesday as well.

The company said the cause of the outage that has affected users globally has not yet been established. This message says Facebook will be back in a few minutes, but the problems have persisted for a longer time.

DownDetector, a website that tracks outages, indicates that Facebook is down mainly in parts of New England, Texas, Seattle, California, Washington, Latin America, the UK, India, and the Philippines.

Facebook tweeted it was aware of the problems and was working on a solution.
