Apple's second-generation AirPods, aptly named AirPods 2, is finally here.

San Francisco: Introducing its second generation of wireless headphones, Apple on Wednesday launched new AirPods created to deliver more talk time.

Of course, you can order the new AirPods 2 directly from Apple, by either visiting the Apple website online or using the Apple Store app. Apple is offering free shipping, so you won't need to pay extra, but as with the original AirPods, there is no AppleCare+ extended warranty available.

The new AirPods have exactly the same design as the first generation device, they now come with Apple's Hey Siri feature which allows you to access Siri on your iPhone by saying "Hey Siri".

Correction: An earlier version of this story incorrectly called the new product AirPods 2.

By connecting AirSnap to your bag, you'll know both your AirPods and charging case are with you always.

Besides appreciating the launch of the new device, the Twitterverse took the white canvas as a platform for meme's and shot several digs at the CEO. The first-generation AirPods also have the ability to invoke Siri but for that users were supposed to tap twice on the earbuds.

Thanks to the new processor, the buds can also support hands-free "Hey Siri" voice commands, which is a long-rumored feature.

There are a couple of cosmetic tweaks to contend with, though, like a new charging light on the front of the case, rather than on the inside, so that you can see how far along your AirPods charging case has come when it's wirelessly charging. But now there's a $199 option that includes a wireless charging case.

The Wireless Charging Case can also be bought separately for $79 / £79 / AU$129 / AED329.

Some of these upgrades have been a long time coming, like the iPad mini and the iMac which have not been updated for years. Apple on Wednesday also announced new colours for its Apple Watch bands and a pink version of its iPhone battery case.

If you use Siri all the time, you should buy AirPods 2 so that you can stop tapping your ear like it's 2001. Each case is said to hold additional charges of more than 24 hours of listening time. Created to push more deeply inside your ear than Apple's own design, they should help to significantly increase stability, while also blocking most external noise.
