If I had to guess, I'd say that the news of Punch-Out! coming to the Switch Online NES collection somehow made its way to him, and he misconstrued that as a new game.

On April 10th, Nintendo Switch's NES Online service will be adding Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels, Punch Out!

Hopoo Games have gone on record saying they plan to release the game on consoles for version 1.0, but have no plans to bring the current early access version of the game to Xbox One, PS4, and Nintendo Switch anytime soon. The varied collection now consists of dozens of games, including Super Mario Bros.™ 3, Donkey Kong™ and The Legend of Zelda™, among many others. 2 (it was added to Nintendo Switch Online in February). Ultimate, a new installment for Punch-Out! hasn't come about since the 2009 release on the Nintendo Wii. This month also marks the first occurrence where both Japan and North America will be receiving the same list of games. Mac works his way up a ladder of increasingly tough enemies culminating in a battle with the titleholder Mr. Dream.

Finally, Switch Online subscribers can download vertical scrolling shooter Star Soldier. A completely fictional character named Mr. Dream was supplanted instead in the games, and we haven't seen an official Punch-Out! featuring Mike Tyson in some time. Oddly enough the standard Nintendo Switch Joy-cons and the Pro Controller don't support this functionality. Your mission is to halt a galactic invasion masterminded by Starbrain, a giant computer inhabiting a floating space station.
