YEAH! YOU! WHY IN THE HELL, DO WE ALWAYS HAVE TO LOSE OUR TEMPER? WHY IS IT EVERYTHING HAS TO BE BLOWN SO FAR OUT OF PROPORTION. HUH? WHAT EXACTLY ARE WE PROVING WITH THIS TANTRUM? I KNOW, I KNOW ITS ALWAYS SOMETHING RIGHT? IT’S NOT OUR FAULT THEY DON’T UNDERSTAND WHAT WE’VE NEVER TRIED TO COMMUNICATE…
I have these conversations with myself a lot. And sometimes they spill out into the open. I know everyone loses their temper from time to time. I lose mine a lot less these days. No, I’m not about to try and sell you the newest pill that cures the inner-asshole (ducks the flying tomatoes) in all of us.
But I am certain that there’s a better way. At one time in my life, I had a horrible explosive temper with a lightning quick fuse. Arenas I got older I realized that holding that much anger inside is a recipe for disaster one way or another. Sure, maybe I didn’t explode into a fit of rage anymore but the pain in my chest just grew and grew. The anxiety crushed me at every moment of every day. The sinking feeling that something would go wrong at any moment haunted my every waking moment and many a sleepless night. I kept wondering when my heart would just give out. And to be honest…There were days I prayed it would.
We all know what it’s like. I would be willing to wager every one of you reading this can remember a time, no matter how brief, each one of you felt…
Though we knew that eventually we’d pull through, there was not a thing that either we nor anyone else could do that would keep us from spinning out into oblivion destroying anything that gets in our way out of spite alone. And when the dust settled and the huddled masses of loved ones slowly came out of hiding we were left to pick up the shattered pieces of our dignity as we apologized profusely and prayed they would forgive.
Honestly folks, this can be prevented. Simply. Easily. MINDFULLY…
:3 SIMPLE TECHNIQUES TO LET IT GO:
1. DEEP BREATHS- Slow down, stop the 360* head spinning of a bad horror flick. Take a few DEEP wholesome & slow breaths. It’s actually good for us, and the rush of clean oxygen purifier our blood and releases a “feel good” in our brains.
2. WRITE, NO WRONG- Grab a pen and some paper & just let your
hand do your brains angry bidding. It’s ok, let it out. Write out all the things your mouth wants to say. At least, the paper doesn’t have feelings. Once the incredible hulk reverts back to the normal you, find a safe place and light the pages on fire. As they burn away to nothing, see your anger vanish on a breeze with the smoke.
3. NOT SO FAST MARIO- If you can safely hop in the car for a drive. Away from the traffic and bustle of the city preferably. Pop some tunes on the stereo and cruise for a bit. Windows down, music up, hair in the breeze. Just be sure you go back home after. J/k.
I’m certain this list could go on and on for an indefinite length of time because we’re all different & I’m sure that most of us have our own ways of dealing with stress, anger, & at times blind rage. Let the happiness come back you. You’ll be ok. Just breath. And fill yourself with loving energy once more. BE YOU! BE BEAUTIFUL! Be blissfully blessed and for crying out loud BREATHE!!! NAMASTE.
