There’s No Shame in Self-Care
If at the end of the day you can look in the mirror and honestly say you’ve done your best, then no one can tell you otherwise. If you have acted in the best manner to care for yourself and those you care for, then there is no reason to lose sleep tonight. Love yourself enough to know there is no shame in self-care.
You deserve to be happy. You deserve to be healthy in mind, body, and soul. You deserve to be loved for who you are, and who you are not. You deserve to be you.
If someone does not value you as you are, then that person is not for you. They do not deserve you at your best if they refuse to accept you as you are now. Realize that you are enough for the right heart when the time comes. You are enough as is. No modification is necessary.
I’m not saying there aren’t things that you can work on to make yourself better person, father, mother, lover, or friend because most of us can all improve in one form or another. I’m saying you do not have to deal with someone who disrespects you for not being enough in their eyes. Because at the end of the day, the only opinion that truly matters is how you see yourself.
In the eyes of the Universe, we are all born perfectly flawed and the experiences in our lives, the trials, and tribulations we face are meant to teach us. They are meant to stretch us and grow and mold us into the beautiful human forms of our true selves we will one day become. That is not to say, however, that we do not have to try.
The burden is on us to make the changes we need to make to become our best version of ourselves. The task is ours alone to become what we’ve always been destined to be. We are all destined to be the best version of ourselves that we can be. The work involved is ours to undertake.
But, know this weary traveler. You are enough right now, today where you stand. You are enough. You are good enough. You are smart enough. You are strong enough. You are perfectly flawed and right where the Universe wants you to be. It sees your struggle and is willing to help, but first, you must help yourself.
The Universe holds for each of us, abundance. Yet, we must make the proper preparations. We must clear out the things that no longer serve us. Whether they be people, habits, or other things that stunt our internal and spiritual growth, we need to remove those things so that the Universe may bring us the things we need to continue our journey.
That lover who no longer respects us or never did in the first place? We need to remove them from our life so that the Universe may bring us one who does. That job that makes us miserable? We need to search for one that better suits us. The friend or friends that allow us to continue our bad habits whether it’s drug use or drinking too much? We need to put distance between them and us so that the Universe can introduce us to a new way of life with people who love and support us and our dreams.
We need to make them proper arrangements so that we may begin to grow again. If you have been stuck and stagnated for some time and nothing appears to get better, then perhaps its time to do some cleaning. Perhaps it’s time to allow yourself to heal. Once we’ve done our duty and made the space by removing that which no longer serves us, only then can the Universe usher in a new way of life.
The Universe knows us. It is what created us. We are born of the same stardust that fills the milky way. We are the same organic matter that flows through the cosmos and we run off of the same energy that powers the sun and stars. It knows both what we need and the precise time in which we need it.
All we’ve got to do is trust and be willing to go through the changes. There is no victory in being stuck in place. Being unwilling to grow is being unwilling to step out of our comfort zone and take a chance. We must instead be willing to open the door and leap high off that cliff without our safety nets, knowing that the Universe will catch us.
Every moment and every choice we make in life is a test of our willingness and trust to allow the Universe to guide our lives to a better place. We only have to let it. But, it all starts with one simple declaration we must make.
I AM ENOUGH! I DESERVE TO BE HAPPY!
Voila! The secret to life is exposed. That’s all there is to it. Yet, saying it is simply not enough. We have to know it. We have to believe it with every fiber of our being and be willing to shout it from the mountaintop or from the deepest darkest valleys of the Mariana Trench at the bottom of the sea.
The beauty of self-discovery is the discovery of oneself. Knowing who we are, what we want, and what we are willing to do to get there is a blessing many of us never realize nor actualize. It is my wish for all of you that you someday witness the beauty of self-awareness. It all starts right now. All you have to do is decide that you are worth it. And, guess what? You totally are!
